5.3.2 Importing metamodels and models

In a single-user MetaEdit+ environment all users are allowed to import both metamodel and model data in any format. In a multi-user MetaEdit+ environment import privileges are slightly more complex: any user is allowed to import model data in XML format any time, but all other import variations require system administrator privileges. For more detailed explanation of import procedures in a multi-user environment, please see ‘MetaEdit+ System Administrator’s Guide’.

To import either metamodel or model data:
1)Choose Repository | Import from the Main Launcher’s menu or toolbar.
2)In the file dialog that opens, choose the binary or XML file to be imported. In a single-user MetaEdit+ it is possible to import any of the following file types: .mxt (metamodel in XML format), .mxm (model data in XML format), .mxs (library symbols in XML format), .met (metamodel in binary format) and .mec (model data in binary format). In a multi-user environment ordinary users can import .mxm files only.
3)After successful importing, remember to commit.
